Family Dentistry

We are family friendly and have many families as patients. We are good at making children feel at ease and disposed to doing dental procedures. We educate them, show them children’s dental literature and keep in good communication at all times.

Family dentistry means we treat all members of the family, from grandparents to the little ones! We have patients from 99 years old to 2. And because we have dentists and hygienists with experience in all areas, there's not much that we have to refer to out.

When possible, and practical, we can schedule your appointments together. But, Moms and Dads, if we do that you have to behave in front of the kids!!

For adults, we can do all phases of dentistry. We can fix just about anything or any condition you've gotten into, or just maintain the condition you are in! For teenagers, we have all the answers to your questions about your wisdom teeth and how to whiten your teeth. For kids, we have sealants to protect new molars from cavities and hands-on instruction about brushing and flossing.

Parents often ask at what age they should bring their child in for a dental check up. We like to see the kids when they are about 2 1/2 to 3 years old, unless you see a problem before that, such as black or brown spots on the teeth, or no teeth or gum sores. When they are about 3, they have most, if not all, of their baby teeth and are able to cooperate and understand. Often, we have the little ones come and watch their older brother or sister or their parent.

Another thing we do with the kids, as well as all our patients, is talk to them in a way they understand. We use words they can understand and don't do more than they can tolerate. We always take it as a compliment when parents arrive for their dental appointments and the kids are disappointed that it is not their turn. And this happens a lot!

Testimonial

“As a child I already had issues and had to go to dentists several times with serious issues. Ever since then, I have seen several different dentists and always considered it as a very unfortunate situation.

“I first came to Northwood Dental with my daughter after I was referred by a friend. I was very worried my daughter would end up having a similar experience like the one I had in my childhood, but I wanted to make sure she would have healthy teeth and a beautiful smile as she grew up. Most of all, I wanted to make sure she was happy to go to the dentist for routine care and any problems.

“The Northwood Dental team and our dentist made us feel right at home. My daughter loves to go there and looks forward to her next cleaning appointments! This was everything for me! So, my husband and I became patients also and we are very satisfied patients!! Ever since then, I no longer worry or dread my dental treatment. I have a very nice smile that I am happy with!”
