Dental emergency services overview
Emergency dental care needs can include:
- Tooth Aches
- Cracked/Knocked Out Teeth
- Swollen Jaw
- Repair of Loose or Lost
- Sore Gum Relief
Pain Relief Is Our #1 Priority
When your toothache is the result of an infection, the pain will not subside until the infection is treated. A toothache could be one of the most painful experiences one can endure. Call our Clearwater dental office immediately if you’re experiencing a painful dental emergency, such as an oral injury or severe tooth pain. In these special instances, our dentists will do our best and set aside time to see you ASAP to relieve your pain, as well as to ensure the health of your teeth and gums.
Chipped, Cracked or Broken Tooth
Whether it’s the result of eating one of the notorious tooth-cracking foods like popcorn or cherry pits, a damaged tooth is cause for concern. Depending on the severity of the problem, a tooth can chip, crack or completely break. This can be extremely painful and this is not something you can fix at home. In this case, you should call our office immediately for urgent dental care.
Before coming to our office, rinse your mouth out with warm water and then use a piece of gauze or clean cloth. Placing a cold pack on your cheek or lips also can help reduce swelling and pain, taking an over-the-counter pain reliever may help also.
Knocked out tooth
Another case that requires emergency dental services is the tooth gets completely knocked out from a contact sport or some other accident. Be sure to handle the tooth by the crown (the top of the tooth) and avoid touching the roots. Gently rinse the tooth under water and DO NOT remove any tissue that’s connected. Be sure to avoid losing the tooth down the sink, you can place a cloth or stopper in the drain. If you can, place the tooth back in the socket and hold it down by biting it into place. If you can’t keep it in your mouth, place it in a container (with milk, if possible).
Call our dental office in Clearwater immediately and arrange visiting with one of our emergency dentists. The longer you wait to re-implant the tooth, the less usable your tooth becomes.
Emergency denture repairs
In the case of denture repair, if lab work is needed and we can’t do the repair in the office, we’ll get the process started for you as quickly as possible. If we catch it early enough, it can usually be done the same day.
